A single modern monitor, particularly one of a larger size or a curved design, can weigh several kilograms. When compounded by dual-monitor setups, webcams, speakers, and even the cabling itself, the combined mass quickly becomes substantial. This is not simply about static weight; it is about how this distributed mass contributes to subtle, continuous stresses on the body, often exacerbated by suboptimal placement and inadequate support.
The Unseen Load of Visual Display Units
The physical demand of interacting with visual display units (VDUs) extends beyond maintaining a fixed posture. Monitors, as the primary interface for many desk workers, dictate head and eye position.
